We’ve been playing with Pop TV’s new photo editing ArtPad app and it’s proving to be Pearl’s latest mini obsession. Encouraging screen time is not often on top of a parents to-do list, but giving your child a chance to be creative is never a bad thing.
Using the ArtPad app you can take photos and customise them (or use existing pictures on your device) choosing from the hundreds of stickers, paints and pencils available to create funny and original images. Pearl has had lots of fun experimenting with all the different colours and textures (and keeps hiding around the house trying to snap me unawares!). Put on a silly wig, create a whole new background for your picture, or decorate using stickers featuring characters such as My Little Pony and Transformers.
Once you’ve finished making your masterpieces you can whizz them by email to your friends and family so they can join in the fun too. There’s even a chance to see your artwork on TV as you can submit it for showing on the POP TV channel.
Our verdict? The ArtPad is lots of fun and has kept Pearl happily occupied for short periods of time. Aimed at four to nine year olds, it’s simple and straightforward to use and we think even younger children would enjoy it too. Best of all, downloading the app is completely free, with no sneaky in app purchases to tempt your little one. Available from Google Play and the App Store.
You can watch the Pop TV channel every day on Freeview 125, Sky 616 and Freesat 603.
