My memories of the seventies are mainly those of inedible school dinners and canary yellow acrylic tank tops, but some of the glamour still seeped through to my seven year old self in programmes like Charlie’s Angels and watching Legs & Co on TOTP. It was a time of political and social unrest, hideous man made fibres and deeply depressing prog rock, but the decade also bought us designers like Biba and Halston and more importantly – disco. (Where would weddings be without floor fillers from Chic and Sister Sledge?)
This month’s Vogue pays homage to the seventies both in feel and content, showcasing designers who’ve taken inspiration from the decade for their spring ’15 collections.
So as my little nod I’ve created a board mixing new catwalk images and vintage 70’s pictures and icons.
